Christian Wedding Scripture Reading Planner

Choose readings for the opening, vows, message, charge, and blessing—then bring the completed worksheet to your pastor or officiant.

Before finalizing: ask your pastor or officiant which passages, translations, and ceremony placements are appropriate in your church tradition.

A simple process

Choose readings in four steps

  1. Name the purpose.Do you want the reading to emphasize covenant, faithful love, companionship, Christian character, or blessing?
  2. Read the full passage.Do not choose a familiar line until you have read its surrounding chapter and understand its setting.
  3. Choose placement. One main reading often serves the ceremony better than several disconnected quotations.
  4. Confirm together.Review the wording, translation, reader, and placement with the person leading the service.
